The Blériot 111 - also known under the name Blériot Bl-111 - was a relatively unsuccessful and therefore never series production of a passenger aircraft made by the French manufacturer Blériot Aéronautique .

history

The aircraft , the first version of which with the designation 111/1 took off for the first time in 1929, was a passenger aircraft, initially designed for five, in later versions up to seven passengers. The Blériot company built a total of two copies. These two basic patterns were further developed in different variants. Ultimately, it was decided not to have this machine built in series.

construction

The Blériot 111 was a low-wing aircraft with a mixed wood / metal construction. The wings were braced with two struts from the surfaces to the fuselage for the purpose of stabilization.

The machine had a two-wheeled chassis and a tail spur. The main landing gear was rigid in the first versions and retractable in later versions.

variants

Blériot 111/2
Blériot 111/5
  • Blériot 111/1
  • Blériot 111/2 - The 111/2 was a modified version in terms of dimensions and engine.
  • Blériot 111/3 - The 111/2 was converted for the next variant, the 111/3. Due to the more powerful engine, the flight performance was significantly increased, especially in terms of speed. This version had space for seven passengers.
  • Blériot 111/4 - The 111/4 was a conversion of the 111/1 and was the first French aircraft to have a retractable main landing gear. This variant with a slightly increased wingspan was designed for six passengers.
  • Blériot 111/5 - The 111/5 also had a passenger capacity of six people and a retractable landing gear. With this variant, different engines were tried out.
  • Blériot 111/6 - The 111/6 was again a re-engineered 111/5. Due to the dramatic increase in performance to 840 hp through the Gnome & Rhône-14Kbrs, the machine was given a different type designation.
