Black Castle (East Lothian)

Black Castle is a hill fort from the Iron Age with a number of defensive walls, about 5 km south-east of Gifford in the Scottish management unit East Lothian . The facility is located south of the B 6355 trunk road between Darent House and Green Castle .

The fort is located on top of a hill at an altitude of 270 meters. It is 120 meters by 100 meters in size and has an inner and an outer curtain wall , as well as two entrances, which are marked by dams. West of the hill fort is a forest called Black Castle Wood .

The facility is a Scheduled Monument .
