Blackburn Cirrus Midget

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Blackburn Cirrus Midget was a piston aircraft engine made by the British manufacturer Blackburn Aircraft and intended for general aviation. The four-cylinder OHV engine presented in 1937 was installed on a trial basis in a Chilton monoplane in 1938 , but series production did not take place.

The structural design of the engine is similar to that of the Blackburn Cirrus Minor . It was an air-cooled engine with hanging cylinders. It was supplied with mixture from a downdraft carburetor. The propeller was driven directly from the crankshaft without a gearbox. The auxiliary device drive cover was flanged to the rear of the engine.
