Leaf singing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term sheet singing (also Prima Vista sing , sing at first sight , isolated sight-singing ) describes the ability for immediate implementation of the sheet read series of intervals in which to singing tones without using an instrument . Usually the starting tone is given. So-called absolute listeners do not need this either, as they can reproduce all tones with the correct frequency - precisely at the pitch.

Confident command of sheet music is an important prerequisite for many musical activities. That is why sheet singing tasks are often part of entrance and final exams in the academic and musicological field; many conservatoires and universities offer special sightseeing courses. Confident sight-singing is also necessary or at least desirable for participation in high-performance choirs and, to an even greater extent, for choral conducting.
