The Bleckeder Zeitung was a newspaper from Bleckede . It existed from October 1, 1878 to February 28, 2019 and appeared twice a week. The newspaper was not a local edition of a larger paper, but rather an independent one. It was owned by the Schötteldreyer family. According to the WELT, the circulation was around 1000 copies and according to the WELT it was “the smallest newspaper in Germany”. According to the editor-in-chief Christian Schötteldreyer, however, the print run was considerably higher and varied between 3500 and 5800 copies. The newspaper stopped its publication on February 28, 2019 after the loss of a major customer. Even after the newspaper is closed, the printing business will be maintained.
history
The newspaper first appeared in 1878 under the name Neuhauser Wochenblatt . It was founded by Carl Grosse with his son Robert. In 1885 Bleckede and Neuhaus were merged to form the Bleckede district and the headquarters were relocated from Neuhaus to Bleckede. This gave the newspaper its current name.
