Block lock
The block lock is an electromechanical switching device that is used to arm a burglar alarm system. The construction of the block lock allows arming only if all monitored rooms are properly locked; at the same time, entering the secured property is prevented when the system is armed. A block lock is therefore not only used for arming and disarming, but also to avoid false alarms by achieving inevitability . It is installed in addition to the existing door lock and also increases the mechanical locking security.
Arming
The locking mechanism is blocked by an electromechanical lock if the alarm system does not release it. The criterion for this release is that all access options to the monitored object are closed and no persons are recognized in the monitored area. The block lock can only be operated when this is the case.
Disarming
In addition to the door lock, the block lock must be activated before entering the secured property. The switching mechanism disarms the intrusion alarm system and the block lock bolt releases the door.
commitment
The disadvantage of the block lock is that the security of arming / disarming and thus the security of the entire intrusion alarm system depends on the security of the locking cylinder used .
Instead of a block lock , a locking element is often used nowadays . This blocks the regular opening of the door of an armed burglar alarm system with a locking bolt regardless of the door lock.
