The Blues Harmonica Blowouts are a live music event series that was launched in 1991 by the American blues harper Mark Hummel . With a common backing band, different blues harper perform one after the other or together and play as part of a jam session . A large number of these concerts are held in the USA and Canada each year . In spring 2008 this concept of blowouts was implemented for the first time in Germany as part of a tour by Mark Hummel, his band “The Blues Survivors” and the blues harpers Steve Baker , Keith Dunn and Doug Jay from the German booking agency “Crossroadblues Agency”. The term "Blues Harmonica Blowout" has meanwhile been protected in the USA as a "Trademark" (TM) by Mark Hummel.
