Early forcing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Early forcing is a horticultural technique used to shorten the dormant phase of perennial organs such as winter buds . These heat treatments with warm water or warm air, as can greenhouses with active heating or cold frames are used and film cultures for better utilization of the sun's heat.

There are also processes with the use of chemical compounds ( ethers , alcohols ) and growth substances ( phytohormones ).

A distinction is made between

  • Vegetable forcing (for example cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes)
  • Fruit forcing (for example peach and strawberries)
  • Weeping
  • Forcing flowers (for example with hyacinths, tulips and daffodils).
