Boban Marković ( Serbian - Cyrillic Бобан Марковић ; born May 6, 1964 in Vladičin Han , Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian trumpeter and flugelhorn player and, together with his son Marko Marković, heads the brass band Boban i Marko Marković Orkestar . He is considered the leading musician of his genre, the Balkan brass music , often referred to as Balkan Brass , and also helped this music to gain international fame.

The Marković Roma family is a traditional family of musicians in Serbia. Boban Marković was in Serbia as a multiple winner of the "Golden Trumpet" at the Trumpet Festival in Guca , one of the largest folk festivals in the world, popular, where he takes up only out of competition since his fifth win 2,001th Outside of Serbia, the Boban Marković Orkestar was mainly known for his appearances in the film Underground by Emir Kusturica . With “Competition” and “Guča” the group also played a leading role in two documentaries. In recent years Marković has increasingly included international influences in his music and has worked with international musicians such as the Austrian group Attwenger and the klezmer band Di Shikere Kapelye .

From 2002 he gradually began to hand over the management of the group to his son Marko, which in 2004 was officially renamed Boban i Marko Marković Orkestar .
