Company history

  • 1923 Arthur Bodycote was founded in Hinckley, Leicester (England) in 1923 as a textile manufacturing company.
  • In 1969 the merger with the Slater Walker Group took place.
  • 1973 Spin-off from the Slater Walker Group and renaming to Bodycote International.
  • 1979 After the earnings in the textile sector continued to decline, a realignment as a service company was decided. Blandburgh Limited was taken over for this. Thus the transition to a supplier of heat treatment of materials was started.
  • 1980 With the purchase of Zinc Alloy Rust Proofing Ltd. The entry was made as a provider of surface finishes.
  • 1983 Nemo Heat Treatments was taken over. The company was the first to offer vacuum heat treatment in the UK market. This created another corporate sector.
  • Expansion abroad began in 1992 with the acquisition of Industrial Materials Technology Inc., a North American company with a branch in Belgium.
  • 1997 Sale of the last textile factories. The realignment was completed.
