Bolji život ( German A Better Life ) is a Yugoslav television series about a family from Belgrade . The program is a mixture of drama and comedy and was produced by the Yugoslav television broadcaster Radiotelevision Belgrade . Bolji život became one of the most successful series in Yugoslavia.

Bolji život first aired on Saturday, January 10, 1987. The series starts with the song “Bolji život” composed especially for the series. It was written by Ljubiša Bačić, composed by Voki Kostić and sung by Dado Topić. The song became very popular in what was then Yugoslavia.

The first season finale, which aired on June 6, 1987, achieved very high ratings.

The series tells of the life of the Popadić family in the sometimes difficult environment of post- Tito Yugoslavia.

The head of the family, Dragiša Popadić, is in his fifties and works in a state legal department. He is also a member of the communist party. His cultivated and beautiful wife Emilija Konstantinović, who comes from a wealthy family, teaches Latin at a high school. They have three grown children who all still live with their parents.

At the beginning of the series, the eldest son Saša, a law school graduate, is still unemployed. The daughter Violeta is aiming for a theater career. And son Boba is working towards high school, but has big problems at school. Dragiša and Emilija's marriage is also in turmoil.
