Reykjavik City Theater (dt. The city theater ), the theater of Reykjavik near the shopping mall Kringlan .

The house opened on October 20, 1989 with the plays Weltlicht and Höll sumarlandsins by Halldór Laxness . There are three stages in the house and there is space for up to 550 spectators in the large hall. The construction costs amounted to 1.5 billion Icelandic crowns .

Before that, the theater in Iðnó , the wooden house next to the town hall directly on Tjörnin , had served this purpose for around ninety years .
