Bosque de Nancuchiname

Bosque de Nancuchiname is a forest area in the Usulután Department , in the southern part of El Salvador on the Pacific coast . Of the 1,030 hectare area, 798 hectares have been under special nature protection as a biosphere reserve since 2008.

In 2005 42 species of hymenoptera were registered in this forest area , which are of particular importance in terms of their importance for plant pollination. The Universidad Nacional de El Salvador (UES) study began in late 2004 and was funded by the United Nations Millennium Development Goals program. As pollinators and producers of honey, the numerous honey bee colonies also traditionally have great economic and cultural importance for the country of El Salvador.

The typical tree population consists of Ceiba ( Ceiba pentandra ), Ojushte ( Brosimum alicastrum ) and Enterolobium cyclocarpum and reaches a height of up to 30 meters.
