botanika - Bremen's great world of discovery is the name of a nature experience center in the Rhododendron Park Bremen .

General

Discovery Center

The green Science Center botanika was opened in 2003 in the middle of Bremen's Rhododendron Park. The facility shows the great variety of tropical and subtropical rhododendrons and their accompanying flora in natural greenhouses. In an interactive discovery center, it also imparts in-depth knowledge about the importance of biological diversity. Botanika GmbH is responsible for the maintenance and presentation of the plant collection and the exhibition, which is financially supported by the botanika foundation and the municipality of Bremen.

The 800 m² interactive discovery center has a spiral structure. With around 80 interactive exhibits and explanatory text panels, it offers comprehensive information on the subject of biological diversity and plants.

In the Asian greenhouse worlds and in the discovery center, various animal species are shown and their relationship to Asia or to plant phenomena is explained. In the Japanese garden you will find a pond with koi, in Borneo Beos and in the discovery center flat-tailed geckos, poison frogs, ghosts, a chameleon and a saltwater aquarium with various types of coral reef. Another highlight are the white-handed gibbons, small great apes from Southeast Asia.

The facility, which is open all year round, is suitable for adults and children from around five years of age and is largely barrier-free . There are regular special exhibitions, in particular the free-flying tropical butterflies from July to February and an Easter exhibition in spring.

Weddings

The Botanika is one of the external wedding venues of the Bremen registry office. The official wedding locations are in the butterfly house, in the Japanese garden and in front of the Buddha statue in the Himalayan greenhouse. Free weddings are possible in the entire facility.
