United States Botanic Garden
The United States Botanic Garden (USBG; German Botanical Garden of the United States ) is a facility of the US Congress in Washington, DC on its grounds. He is under the supervision of the Acting Architect of the Capitol . The facility has existed since 1820, but was not formally opened until 1850.
There are around 26,000 plants here. 750,000 people visit the garden annually.
The greenhouse is divided into the following subject areas:
- Frightful Flora - contains numerous poisonous plants
- Garden Primeval - Plants of prehistoric times
- Hawaii
- Medicinal Plants
- Mediterranean
- Plant Adaptations - Plants that live in symbiosis
- Rare & Endangered - shows particularly endangered plant species
- Southern Exposure - Wild plants from the extreme south of the country
- The tropics
- World Deserts
