Brain Powerd ( Japanese ブ レ ン パ ワ ー ド ) is an anime - television series by director Yoshiyuki Tomino and the Sunrise studio from 1998. The series was implemented as a manga by Japanese illustrator Yukiru Sugisaki .

The work is about the conflict between greed and a sense of responsibility in a post-apocalyptic world. The series can be classified into the genres of mecha , science fiction and drama .

In the distant future, large parts of the earth have been destroyed by earthquakes and tidal waves, and natural disasters are still raging. The earthquake caused a structure called the orphan ( オ ル フ ァ ン ) to surface . This is an alien spaceship that wants to leave the earth with all of its organic energy. This would mean the end of life on earth. Nevertheless, people, so-called reclaimers , who want to benefit from the ship, live near the orphan . For this they collect records of its surface and use it to construct mecha , the Brain Powerd s mentioned. But there are also people who oppose the use of parts of the alien machine because they fear the dangers. One of these groups is Novice Noah . These, too, control mechas called antibodies .

Yū Isami ( 伊佐 未 勇 ) grew up with the Reclaimers and is part of them. When one day he meets the girl Hime Utsumiya ( 宇 都 宮 比 瑪 ), who belongs to the Novice Noah, a fight breaks out . Yū is influenced by this in such a way that he ponders whether doing the reclaimer is correct. Years later, when he meets Hime again, he turns away from the reclaimers and joins Novice Noah. From then on, both fight together for the fate of humanity.

In 1998, the studio produced Sunrise , directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino , the anime - TV series with 26 episodes. The idea for this comes from Yoshiyuki Tomino and Hajime Yatate. The character design was created by Mutsumi Inomata and the artistic direction was taken over by Masaru Sato.
