The Museum Brauerei Schmitt in Singen is a brewery in Thuringia .

history

As early as the 17th century, a "Fuhrmannsschänke" is mentioned outside the village on an old trade route. In 1867 the inn came into the possession of the brewer Ernst Heinrich Jacobi, who expanded the production of beer. Richard Schmitt acquired the brewery in 1885 and brought it up to date in the following years, which is still largely in place today.

In the GDR , the brewery was continued as a family business. Oskar Schmitt was the owner until 1974, after which the brewery was owned by Edith (Oskar Schmitt's daughter) and Fritz Obstfelder. In 1976 the entire brewery was placed under a preservation order.

Today's master brewer Uwe Obstfelder, the son of Edith and Fritz Obstfelder, has been running the brewery, which is considered to be the smallest producing brewery in Thuringia, since 1990.
