Brake parameter

The brake parameter C * characterizes the ratio of braking force to the necessary activation force of a wheel brake . The coefficient of friction of a brake lining is usually easier to assess, so C * is given as a multiplier for the coefficient of friction µ.

Different types of brakes have characteristic brake parameters. Only with the disc brake type is the relationship between the characteristic value and the coefficient of friction linear due to the lack of self-reinforcement.
