Wroclaw Philological Treatises

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Breslauer Philological Treatises were an academic series that appeared from 1886 to 1914 by the Breslauer Verlag M. & H. Marcus. Until 1909 the series was counted in volumes, each consisting of several booklets. According to Volume 9 (1902/1909), the series was counted in numbers (up to 48/1914).

Most of the contributions in the series were first papers by Wroclaw doctoral students. The founder of the series was Wilhelm Studemund . After his death (1889) it was continued by Richard Foerster .

The series was continued in 1939 by the Breslauer Abhandlungen zur Classical Studies published by the Breslauer Verlag Maruschke & Berendt (edited by Hans Drexler , Ludolf Malten and Joseph Vogt ), of which only one volume appeared (Friedrich Schindler: Investigations on the history of the Sallust picture ).
