The Brettmühlenteich (also Brettmühlenteich Dobra, Brettmühlenteich Zschorna or Brettmühlenteich Tauscha) is a forest pond southeast of Zschorna in Saxony .
A 4.40 m high and 380 m long dam dams the 14.5 hectare Brettmühlenteich fed by Grundbach and Springbach in the catchment area of the Radeburg II reservoir . The local recreation center "Brettmühlenteich" is located on the bank of this forest pond. The fenced complex with its campsite and a very popular sandy beach, boat rental and dining facilities were managed by the municipality of Thiendorf until 2016 and have been in private hands since then. The bathing area has been freely accessible since then, but the operator is no longer responsible for the safety of bathers.
In the same property there is a holiday home area, which has gradually developed from company bungalows since the 1950s and whose plots became the property of today's users after the political change. Originally, a large number of moats ran from the Zipfelteich between the rows of bungalows, but most of them have since been filled. In summer there is a lot of bathing activity at the Brettmühlenteich, which also attracts many Dresdeners looking for relaxation.
Since the catchment areas of the two tributaries Grundbach and Springbach as well as the immediate surroundings are dominated by forest and grassland, there are hardly any serious problems with the regularly monitored bathing water quality as long as the amount of water is sufficient. Algal blooms are limited despite warnings. Sports events ( duathlon , triathlon ) and public fishing trips take place at the Brettmühlenteich .
