Brinkmann's cross

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Brink's Cross is a crossroads of wood in Ostbevern at court Beckemeyer and is since March 30, 2001, listed building .

description

It is on the road that leads north over the Aa at Hof Vinke (Brock 70), at the confluence of the path that comes from Maibaum and Brinkmann. The free-standing high wooden cross with titulus and roof has a carved wood body. The index fingers of both hands point demonstratively to the sky. A plaque with the following inscription is now attached to the lower part of the longitudinal beam:

O wanderer,
do not rush
past too quickly !
Think
about who this is!
It is the Lord Jesus
Christ
who died for us on the cross
.

history

The body and the titulus are still original from the 19th century. In 1948 the roof was renewed. The reason for the establishment is no longer known. It belonged to the “Bertels an der Aa” farm. Johann Brinkmann married there in 1888.
