Broel Towers

The Broeltürme (nl: Broeltorens ) are two towers in the city of Kortrijk ( Belgium ). These medieval towers (together with the artillery tower) are the only remains of the old city fortifications.

history

The south tower, the Speyetoren (± 1385), was part of the reinforced fencing of the count's castle .

The north tower, the Ingelborchtoren (± 1413), was built for defense with primitive artillery guns. It is opened for certain events.

There is a statue of Johannes von Nepomuk on the Broel Bridge .
