description
The masonry viaduct is about two kilometers east of the center of Broxburn . It was built in 1842 as part of the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway . Today the viaduct is used by trains from Glasgow to Edinburgh via the Falkirk Line . The seven- arched arch bridge leads the double-track railway line over the A89 and the Brox Burn brook . The masonry consists of embossed ashlar stones. The middle arch, which spans the A89, was later reinforced with a steel frame. The northernmost arch, on the other hand, was partially closed by masonry, which itself has two arched openings.
