The A89 road ( English for road A89 ) is an approximately 57.6 km long, continuously not designated as a primary route road in Scotland, which begins in the center of Glasgow and mostly runs at some distance north of the M8 motorway towards Edinburgh .

Starting at High Street in Glasgow, the road leads through Gallowgate and on via Shettleston to Ballieston, where it first crosses the A8 road with a roundabout and then the M8 and M73 motorway on a large, multi-storey junction (Ballieston Interchange) . It continues via Coatbridge to Airdrie , crosses the A73 road and leads to Bathgate and a short distance from the M8 to Newbridge, where it merges into the A8 at junction 1 of the M9 motorway , which leads to the center of Edinburgh.
