Brunnenkirche

The Brunnenkirche is a Protestant church in the Lössel district of the city of Iserlohn . It was named Brunnenkirche as an allusion to the neighborhood to the former village well and the biblical meaning of wells . It offers space for around 140 people.

history

The church, built in 1981 and consecrated on July 4, 1982, is the youngest church in the Protestant parish of Iserlohn.

In the 1960s and 1970s, the population in the Lössel district grew by leaps and bounds, so that the former Ising factory on Brunnenweg, used as a community hall, was no longer sufficient. In 1979 the Protestant church building and development association Lössel eV was founded. The Hagen architect Schmidt designed the church as an extension to the previous parish hall. One of its architectural features is that it does not have a right angle. Three quarters of the construction work was done by the villagers themselves.

In 2009 the bell system was renewed thanks to donations and support from the friends' association and a small cast steel bell was also installed.

Furnishing

In the youngest church, the oldest bell in the church district, the Pankratius bell, rings at the same time . It could date from the 13th to the 15th century and bears the inscription + Agnus dei, qui tolis peccata mundi miserere + beatus Pancratius ora pro nobis (Lamb of God, who you bear the sins of the world, have mercy / Blessed Pankratius, pray for us.)

The stained glass altar window was created by the Iserlohn glass artist Günther Tomczak. The colors blue, white and red symbolize the Trinity . A fishing net, fish and a pigeon can be seen on the window. Seven other, modern designed windows symbolically take up light, bread, path, door, vine, shepherd and resurrection.

In 1983 a Tzschökel organ was installed. It has four registers and has a warm sound.

The cross above the altar was made from the beams of an old, demolished Lössel half-timbered house.
