The transport company Buchholz nearby GmbH (also called Buchholz bus called) are the regional transport company in Buchholz in der Nordheide . It is a 100% subsidiary of Stadtwerke Buchholz .

The company operates the city bus in Buchholz in Nordheide with eight buses and has been a partner in the HVV since the end of 2004 . There are three lines in operation that transport around 1.7 million people annually.

The route of the bus lines is operated using the so-called rendezvous procedure . This transport concept was adopted as an example by other small towns in Germany when the Buchholz bus was founded and was a very attractive transport model for small towns in the 1990s. The rendezvous in Buchholz is the so-called meeting point in Adolfstraße, where all city bus lines meet every 30 minutes and the buses are located on a central bus platform. This means that older passengers and wheelchair users can comfortably enter and drive the vehicles.

Although the vehicles are operated by the Buchholz Bus , they are provided by KVG (Kraftverkehrs Gesellschaft mbH) with its headquarters in Stade, from the depot in Seevetal-Hittfeld. The buses have always been regularly serviced, repaired and maintained there. The bus drivers are also provided by KVG Hittfeld and work in two shifts. Verkehrsbetriebe Buchholz idN GmbH also employs its own employees such as office workers, inspectors and, until the end of 2017, employees in the service center at the meeting point in Adolfstrasse.

history

October 1996
On October 12, 1996 the city bus service with six 9 meter midi buses goes into operation.
MAN / Göppel diesel buses of the type MAN NM 222 are used here, which are sold at KVG Hittfeld with car no. 773 through 778 were numbered.
The service center for the Buchholz bus will be opened at the meeting point in Adolfstraße when the city bus starts operating.

The following 5 bus lines are put into operation and served:

  • Line 1 : Nordring and Otto-Koch-Kampfbahn (route: from Nordring via the meeting point to Otto-Koch-Kampfbahn and vice versa)
  • Line 2 : Heimgarten and Theodor-Storm-Weg (route: from Heimgarten via the meeting point to Theodor-Storm-Weg and vice versa)
  • Line 3 : Schlosserstraße and meeting point (route: from Schlosserstraße to the meeting point)

A little later, line 1 to the Otto Koch Kampfbahn is extended with new stops to the Seppenser cemetery. The Otto-Koch-Kampfbahn stop was decommissioned and no longer served.

  • Line 1 : Nordring and Seppensen Friedhof (route: from Nordring via the meeting point to the Seppensen Friedhof)

The bus routes will be operated for the next 6 years.

September 2002
Due to a second, new line 3 to Holm-Seppensen Süd and increasing passenger numbers, two more new buses are put into service.
MAN NL 313 CNG natural gas buses with a standard length of 12 meters were purchased here, which are available from KVG Hittfeld under car no. 860 and 861 were numbered.

The old line 1 Nordring will be extended with new stops to Bäckerstraße and the terminus Nordring will continue to be used as a normal stop. The route over the stops Gewerbegebiet Süd, Maurerstraße and Zunftstraße will be changed by the extension of the line so that these stops will no longer be served. Line 1 becomes "Line 2 Bäckerstraße" due to the extension to Bäckerstraße.

The old line 2 Theodor-Storm-Weg becomes "Line 1 Theodor-Storm-Weg" and remains unchanged in the course of the route.

The old line 3 Schlosserstraße will be extended with a new stop to Möbel Kraft. The old final stop Schlosserstraße and the Schützenstraße stop are no longer applicable due to the changed route. The Neue Straße and Lindenstraße stops are no longer served and only served by line 2 Heimgarten. Line 3 now serves the Zunftstraße Ost, Zunftstraße West and Maurerstraße stops on the former Line 1 Nordring.

The new line 3 to Holm-Seppensen Süd is put into operation and Holm-Seppensen is connected to the city bus network. Line 3, together with Line 1 to the Seppenser Friedhof, now serves the Canteleu Brücke, Am Thing and Heidekamp stops.

The following 6 bus routes are now served by a fleet of six diesel and two natural gas buses:

  • Line 1 : Theodor-Storm-Weg and Seppensen Friedhof (route: from Theodor-Storm-Weg via the meeting point to the Seppensen Friedhof and vice versa)
  • Line 2 : Bäckerstraße and Heimgarten (route: from Bäckerstraße via the meeting point to Heimgarten and vice versa)
  • Line 3 : Möbel Kraft and Holm-Sepp. South (route: from Möbel Kraft via the meeting point to Holm-Seppensen South and vice versa)

The lines are served for 2 years.

December 2004
When the HVV timetable changes at the beginning of December, Buchholz Bus also becomes a partner in the HVV (Hamburger Verkehrs-Verbund).

March 2005
Due to the high number of passengers and the capacity problems of the small MAN midi buses, four more new buses are put into service.
Here again MAN natural gas buses of the type MAN NL 313 CNG with a standard length of 12 meters were purchased and numbered from the KVG with the car numbers 902 to 905. In the course of this, four of the old MAN midi buses with car numbers 774 to 777 will be retired after almost 9 years of operation.
The two other midi buses with car numbers 773 and 778 will remain in service and will be equipped with new passenger information technology.

The four-digit line numbers from the HVV are introduced and the existing line numbers changed accordingly.

Line 1 Theodor-Storm-Weg becomes line 4101 Freudenthalstrasse. Due to the large natural gas buses, the narrow streets of Theodor-Storm-Weg and Im Waldfrieden can no longer be used and the route from the Wasserwerk stop will be changed. The final stop Theodor-Storm-Weg and the stops Im Waldfrieden are no longer available and will no longer be served. The Klaus-Groth-Straße stop and the new terminus Freudenthalstraße are added.

Line 1 Seppensen Friedhof becomes only line 4101 Seppensen Friedhof and the route remains unchanged.

Line 2 Bäckerstraße becomes line 4102 Bäckerstraße and the route remains unchanged.

Line 2 Heimgarten becomes line 4102 Steinbeck Primary School. Due to the new buses, the narrow streets Heimgartenstraße and Heimgarten can no longer be used here. The old Heimgarten terminus will be omitted and the Heimgartenstraße stop will be relocated a few meters so that the new 4102 line can serve the stop. The Steinbeck school will be added as a new stop and final stop and thus the Steinbeck elementary school will be connected to the city bus network.

The two lines of line 3 will each become 4103 Möbel Kraft and 4103 Holm-Seppensen Süd and will remain unchanged from the route.

The following 6 bus routes are now served by a fleet of two diesel and six natural gas buses:

  • Line 4101 : Freudenthalstrasse and Seppensen cemetery (route: from Theodor-Storm-Weg via the meeting point to the Seppens cemetery and vice versa)
  • Line 4102 : Bäckerstraße and Steinbeck School (route: from Bäckerstraße via the meeting point to Steinbeck Primary School and vice versa)
  • Line 4103 : Möbel Kraft and Holm-Sepp. South (route: from Möbel Kraft via the meeting point to Holm-Seppensen South and vice versa)

The lines will be served for 13 years.

February 2010
Two new 12 meter buses are put into service for old buses from the existing fleet.
For the first time in 14 years, diesel buses of the type MAN NL 293 "Lion's City" that meet the EEV emissions standard and were numbered with the KVG with the car numbers 0934 (1031) and 0935 (1032) were purchased here for the first time. These vehicles were already put into service with the KVG at the end of 2009 with the car numbers 0934 and 0935 and renumbered for the Buchholz bus. They will be stuck with a new Buchholz bus logo.

The two small MAN midi buses 773 and 778, which are now almost 14 years old, will be taken out of service when the large diesel buses 1031 and 1032 are purchased. Thus the era of the small MAN midi buses in Buchholz is over.

The 2002 natural gas buses 860 and 861 and the 2005 natural gas buses 902 to 905 also have the new Buchholz bus logo. The fleet now includes six natural gas and two EEV diesel buses.

April 2011
Two new 12-meter buses are put into service for old buses from the existing fleet.
Here again MAN diesel buses with EEV emissions standard of the type MAN NL 293 "Lion's City" were purchased and numbered 1135 and 1136 from KVG. In the course of this, the two oldest MAN natural gas buses 860 and 861 from 2002 will be taken out of service after more than 9 years of operation.

The fleet now includes four natural gas and four EEV diesel buses.

March 2014
Four new 12-meter buses are now being put into service to retire old buses from the existing fleet.
Mercedes-Benz Euro-6 diesel buses of the type Mercedes-Benz O530 "Citaro C2" were purchased here and numbered from the KVG with car numbers 1431 to 1434. In the course of this, the last four MAN natural gas buses 902 to 905 from 2005 will be retired after more than 9 years of operation. This also marks the end of the era of natural gas buses in Buchholz.

The four new Mercedes-Benz buses 1432 to 1435 and the four old MAN buses 1031 and 1032, as well as 1135 and 1136 get a new Buchholz bus logo. The fleet now includes four EEV diesel buses and four Euro 6 diesel buses.

October 2017
The service center of the Buchholz bus at the meeting point in Adolfstraße will be closed without replacement at the end of the year, after more than 21 years, and will be used by the KVG's drivers as lounges and break rooms.

June 2018
Line 4101 Freudenthalstraße is changed to line 4101 Aschenputtelweg and the route is changed accordingly. The stops Wasserwerk, Boßdorfstraße and Klaus-Groth-Straße will no longer be served and will no longer be served after 22 or 13 years, which is why there were various complaints from residents about the stops. Because many old people live in this area and are dependent on the city bus.
The old terminus Freudenthalstraße will become the normal stop, a former KVG stop on Gorch-Fock-Straße will be reactivated for the new route, and two new stops, Märchenstraße and Cschenputtelweg, will be built.

The reconstruction of the line should provide a better connection to the residential area Märchensiedlung and from the school center I am Buenser Weg.
