The book series of masterpieces of ancient Chinese culinary art ( Chinese  中国 烹饪 古籍 丛刊 , Pinyin Zhōngguó pēngrèn gǔjí cóngkān ; German : Collection of ancient Chinese works on culinary art and dietetics ) contains the largest number of important kitchen classics on this topic and deals with the area of eating and drinking culture form a large part of Chinese culture itself.

The systematic review and collection of ancient Chinese literature on this area took almost ten years. Between 1984 and 1993 the individual works were published by the Chinese publishing house called Zhongguo shangye chubanshe in Beijing .

It is a series of books that makes accessible many works that have so far been untapped or difficult to access for the history of Chinese food and drink culture . The work presents a wealth of sources in 27 volumes. The earliest volume is dedicated to the pre-Qin period ( Xiān Qín pēngrèn shǐliào xuǎn zhùshì selected commented texts on the history of Chinese cuisine from the pre-Qin period), the other volumes extend to the late Manchu dynasty, in part with Translations into the modern Chinese language.

It is currently the most important collection of sources for the history of Chinese eating and drinking culture and also Chinese dietetics and is also of interest for the history of medicine .
