Booking on request

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When booking on request in the travel industry , an accommodation that appears as 'fully booked' in booking lists or reservation systems is requested again from the service provider (hotel, bungalow complex, holiday apartment complex, etc.).

This process is called 'booking' on request because the customer first has to conclude a travel contract, although the accommodation has not yet been confirmed. If the requested accommodation is firmly confirmed, the customer can only dissolve the concluded travel contract in compliance with the cancellation conditions ( cancellation fees ) agreed with the tour operator . However, if the requested accommodation is not confirmed, the concluded travel contract is deemed to have been terminated by both parties without any conditions.

A booking on request is a legally binding travel contract in which the accommodation has not yet been confirmed.
