The Budilnik ( Russian Будильник , Der Wecker ) was a satirical weekly that was published in Russian from 1865–1871 in Saint Petersburg and 1873–1917 in Moscow .

Until 1877 the cartoonist Nikolai Alexandrovich Stepanov - a democrat - ran the newspaper.
In the 1860s, the satirical poets Dmitri Dmitrijewitsch Minajew and Liodor Iwanowitsch Palmin and the writer Alexander Iwanowitsch Lewitow wrote for the paper . From 1864, the writer Konstantin Michailowitsch Stanjukowitsch brought articles from the life of the Russian naval fleet . From 1866 to 1869, the literary historian Pyotr Issajewitsch Weinberg (father of Boris Weinberg ) headed the Department of Literary Contributions .
In the early 1880s, Anton Chekhov wrote under various pseudonyms - for example under A. Chechonte or as my brother's brother . Also in the 1880s, Alexander Walentinowitsch Amfiteatrow published satirical poems. The poet Vladimir Romanovich Shchiglev made humorous contributions.
Well-known employees were also the journalist Wladimir Giljarowski , the graphic artist D. Moor and the architect Fyodor Schechtel .
