Buggy kiting

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Buggy kiting , also known as kite buggying , is an activity in which an athlete sits on a three-wheeled kite buggy that he steers with his feet while being pulled by a kite . The sport is practiced on wide sandy beaches , on meadows or on sports airfields. The kite is usually a 4-line mat kite (also: parafoils, umbrella or simply called mat). Similar to a paraglider, these rodless kites are only shaped by the wind ( ram air ).

Similar to sailing , the kite is always driven across the direction of the wind, so you keep the kite on pull and use its power to move forward. Within certain limits, it is also possible to drive away from the wind (falling away) or to drive towards the wind (showing up). As with kitesurfing, a bar (an aluminum rod, wrapped in fabric, etc.) is often used when driving a buggy. However, not every kite is flown with a bar: there are also kites that are flown with handles. Handles are two curved aluminum or plastic rods that are also covered with fabric or the like (one for each hand; only important for comfort).

In Germany, driving without a license is prohibited in many areas.
