In 1957 Buick built four different models ( Special , Super , Century and Roadmaster ). These models were combined with two different wheelbases and two different bodies , which in turn were offered with different equipment and engines. The portholes (ventilation slots on the fenders) also help to differentiate. While the base model Special has three, the other models each have four. The differences can best be shown on the 2-door Riviera, which was available for all models.

Body styles
The body of the 1957 Buick can be roughly divided into eight variants. Not every model was available with every body variant. For example, no estate wagon was planned for the Super and Roadmaster. The following overview shows which model was available in which variants.

Models and production
A total of 405,098 units of the 57 Buick were built. If one also takes the special bodies into account, a total of 30 different model variants were produced. The Convertibles (Cabrios) and Century Caballeros (station wagon model based on the Century) are particularly popular today. The latter model in particular is in great demand today as it made up less than 3% of total production. In addition to the generally low interest in estate models in the USA, the high price is likely to have been responsible for the low demand. That was well above the price of the convertible. Thus, the Century Caballero is one of the first "lifestyle station wagons" that were ever produced alongside the Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad . Another special feature of regular production is the 68 model. The Century 2-Door Sedan was only built twice.
