Nazionalna astronomitscheska obserwatorija - Roschen
The Nazionalna astronomitscheska obserwatorija - Rozhen , (bulg. Национална астрономическа обсерватория - Рожен , НАО-Рожен; German National Astronomical Observatory - Rozhen , Eng. National Astronomical Observatory - Rozhen , NAO Rozhen) is a Bulgarian observatory , which is 15 kilometers by road southeast of the City of Chepelare or 90 km south of Plovdiv , at an altitude of 1759 m on Mount Roschen (Bulgarian връх Рожен) in the Rhodope Mountains . It belongs to the Institute of Astronomy of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences . In 2008 around 50 astronomers worked there.
Instruments
The largest telescope in the observatory is a reflector telescope made by Carl Zeiss Jena with a diameter of two meters, which was put into operation in 1980. There are also a number of smaller telescopes.
