Bullion Stone

The Bullion Stone is a late dated (Class III - 900–950 AD) Pictish symbol stone , which shows an unusual representation. It was discovered in 1933 while a bypass was being built in Angus and is now in the Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh , Scotland . It is 1.9 m long, 75 cm wide and 7.5 cm thick and is made of red sandstone .

The image on the stone is unique among the Pictish stones discovered so far . It shows a bald, bearded man on a tired horse, carrying a shield and drinking from a very large drinking horn with a bird's head. The horn end has a parallel to the approximately 1000 years older Torrs Horns (also in the museum) and a representation on the Wandsworth shield .
