Federal Academy for Cultural Education Wolfenbüttel

The Bundesakademie für Kulturelle Bildung Wolfenbüttel eV is a training facility for people who work within the cultural sector and especially in cultural mediation, as artists, teachers, youth and adult educators, in cultural centers, in cultural administration, employed, freelance, but also on a voluntary basis. The academy sees itself as a “place for art, culture and their intermediaries”.

Mission and organization

The Federal Academy was founded in 1986 as a non-profit association and has a nationwide public cultural and educational policy mandate. The advanced and advanced training is aimed at cultural mediators and creators from all over Germany and neighboring countries. The academy is financed from funds from the State of Lower Saxony , the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and from its own income. The bodies of the sponsoring association include the general assembly, the board of directors and the advisory board. Since April 2012 the academy has been headed by Vanessa-Isabelle Reinwand-Weiss, who is also a professor at the Hildesheim University Foundation .

Events and program areas

The Federal Academy offers a total of around 180 events a year, including seminars, qualification series and conferences in six program areas. The program managers are supported by around 300 external lecturers from the field.

The academy is also active in scientific research and regularly publishes in its own publication series Wolfenbütteler Akademie -tex (Texts).

Locations

The Federal Academy is located in Wolfenbüttel Castle with the administration wing, the workshop and seminar area, and the “Schünemanns Mühle” guest house with its two neighboring buildings. The guest house has 39 rooms and several conference and seminar rooms. During times when there are no courses, the buildings are used for guest occupancy.
