Federal monument of the Association of German Cyclists
The federal monument of the Association of German Cyclists is located in the spa gardens of Bad Schmiedeberg . It was funded by the Association of German Cyclists through fundraising and was inaugurated on June 17, 1923 in the presence of several thousand cyclists from all over Germany. One of the initiators formulated the main goals of the monument:
- Memories of the fallen of the First World War
- Reminder for the unity of German cycling
- Documentation of loyalty to cyclists
- Testimony to love for your homeland and country
It is dedicated to comrades who fell between 1914 and 1918. After the fall of the Wall , it was restored and re-inaugurated on June 19, 1993.
