Federal Association of German Insurance Brokers

The Bundesverband Deutscher Versicherungsmakler e.V. (BDVM) is an interest group for insurance brokers .

history

In 1918 Hamburg brokers founded the Hamburg Insurance Brokers Association . In 1989 the association was renamed the “Federal Association of German Insurance Brokers” (BDVM) for the first time. After the merger with the Versicherungs-Broker-Verband eV (VMV) founded in Munich in 1984 , the association changed its name to the Association of German Insurance Brokers eV (VDVM) in 2002. Since January 1st, 2018 - after the merger with the Federal Association of Medium-sized Insurance and Financial Brokers - the association has been using its old name "Bundesverband Deutscher Versicherungsmakler eV "

The BDVM is based in Hamburg; Seven nationwide regional districts provide various seminars and events each year for an exchange of information and experience in the regions. 

In 2018, the BDVM had 860 member companies with around 12,000 employees. The strategic focus of the activities of the members across all size classes is commercial and industrial business, which makes up around 80 percent. Accordingly, BDVM member companies have a leading position in brokerage and support, particularly in the areas of industrial and transport insurance.
