The Federal Association of Heat Pumps e. V. (BWP) is an umbrella association for the heat pump industry in Germany with its headquarters in Berlin-Schöneberg . It was founded in 1993 as an Initiativkreis Wärmepumpe e. V. (IWP) and represents the interests of the industry towards the public and politics. Its long-term goal is the statutory promotion and dissemination of the heat pump as a system for developing regenerative energies for the heat supply of buildings. In addition to the use of outside air as a heat source, near-surface geothermal energy is also given a particularly high priority.

history

The association was founded on June 30, 1993 in Bayreuth in the form of the Initiativkreis Wärmepumpe (IWP) e. V., the forerunner of today's association, which was renamed Bundesverband Wärmepumpe (BWP) eV in 2002. On January 1, 2007 the merger with the Heat Pump Initiative in the Federal States (WIB) e. V. and the BWP. At the same time, the association moved its headquarters from Munich to Berlin , which can currently be found in the Kunsthaus H3-Kleistpark.berlin in the immediate vicinity of the Kleistpark underground station . Today the BWP has established itself as the sole advocacy group for the German heat pump industry.

structure

The federal association has a total of four organs with the general assembly, the board of directors, the advisory boards and the managing director as a special representative.

The advisory boards within the BWP act as interest groups for member groups from different industries such as heat pump manufacturers, energy supply companies, skilled craftsmen, planners, energy consultants, drilling companies, universities, science, associations and political representatives. Existing advisory boards are:

SG Ready label
  • Industry Advisory Board
  • Advisory board for energy supply companies
  • Advisory board craft
  • Scientific Advisory Board

tasks

The Federal Association of Heat Pumps represents the interests of companies along the heat pump value chain. The approximately 500 members include the German heat pump industry (manufacturers and distributors), energy supply companies, drilling and supply companies, skilled tradespeople from the HVAC and electrical engineering sectors, energy consultants and planners, experts, architects, associations and prefabricated house manufacturers. The Federal Association of Heat Pumps also informs politics, the press and the media about the current status of heat pump technology and the ecological and economic benefits of this heating technology. This includes, among other things, the annual information on the sales figures for the entire German heat pump market. The association also supports skilled tradespeople and planners in their marketing and advertising measures. The BWP takes on further information tasks for end users in the form of heat pump calculation tools, such as B. a delivery computer or the annual performance factor calculator to calculate the annual performance factor of a heat pump.

The BWP advocates a greater spread of heat pump technology in commercial and private old and new buildings. In the long term, the aim is to achieve a heat pump market share of at least 20 percent in the entire heating market, which amounted to 11% in 2017 and was the second most frequently installed heating system after gas condensing technology.

seal of approval

European seal of approval

The Federal Association of Heat Pumps is responsible for awarding the European seal of approval for electrically operated heat pumps in Germany. The seal of approval, which arose from the earlier DACH seal of approval for the German-speaking area, was created in order to be able to guarantee a high quality level of heat pumps. The seal of approval defines technical, planning and service-specific quality guidelines for heat pumps, which must be adhered to in order to ensure high energy efficiency and operational reliability of heat pump systems. The European seal of approval is under the umbrella of the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) and is awarded in various European countries. A test report from a test center accredited by the EHPA is required to prove the efficiency.

SG Ready label

The SG Ready label is also awarded by the BWP to heat pump series whose control technology enables the integration of the individual heat pump into an intelligent power grid (smart grid). Heat pump manufacturers can apply for it and, as long as the technical requirements are met, it is valid for at least two years from the date of initial award.
