The Federal Association of Transport Companies (BVT) is a German trade association. He campaigns for the small and medium-sized transport companies that mostly carry out transports themselves and own vehicles. It is aimed at companies involved in commercial road haulage , both those that require a permit (over 3.5 tonnes GVW) and those that do not require a permit.

history

The Federal Association of Entrepreneurs in Parcel Services eV (BVUP) was founded in 1991 and was renamed the Federal Association of Transport Entrepreneurs in 1996. Since its merger with the Association of German Small Goods Transporters (VDKt) it has been renamed to its current name. The seat of the association is Dortmund . BVT is a member of the European Road Haulers Association (UETR)

tasks

The association is the political representation of freight carriers in Berlin and Brussels. He wants to gain public recognition of their work for the several thousand transport companies and support them in making their work economically viable.

Services

For the members, the association offers information prepared in news services and brochures, organizes the exchange of experiences and advice. Comprehensive professional training and cooperation are intended to strengthen the competence and profitability of small businesses. It publishes the non-binding "Price Recommendation Transport" (PeTra) for the members of the BVT. Numerous framework agreements for members complete the offer.

Political goals

The BVT advocates:

  • Fair competitive conditions in Europe
  • Fair relationships between clients and contractors
  • A simplification of tax laws
  • A change in the trade regulations to improve the situation of small businesses
  • Reducing bureaucracy

Trade policy demands

In contrast to other logistics associations, the association also stands up for the very weak within the industry. The association criticized the working conditions at parcel services with the words "The subcontractors are squeezed like lemons". The transport companies should pass on the costs of toll increases in full to the shippers and other powerful customers. In view of the high fuel prices, he called for a cheaper "commercial diesel".

membership

Any natural or legal person who is active as a small business in the transport industry and who has properly registered a corresponding business can become a full member of the association. There is also the possibility of a sponsoring membership. Any natural or legal person who feels particularly connected to the association and wants to contribute to its promotion can become a sponsoring member of the association.
