The Federal Association of Sales Managers e. V. (The Sales Manager) is a professional association based in Berlin .

The Federal Association of Sales Managers is a professional association of sales managers in Germany and has around 1,500 personal members from around 1,150 different companies. He sees himself as the largest association for sales management in Germany. The association defines the professional interests of the sales managers, is involved in the training and further education of the professional group and organizes the exchange of opinions and experiences within the professional group.

The sales managers were founded in Berlin in 2013 . According to its own statements, the association has been financed exclusively from membership fees since it was founded.

organization

General meeting

As usual with registered associations, the highest body is the general meeting. All full members are entitled to seat and vote there. The funding partners Young Sales Professional may also be present, but they are not entitled to vote.

Bureau

At the head of the association is the Presidium consisting of natural persons. The office of president has been held by the entrepreneur Christina Riess since 2017. All members of the Presidium are represented on the Presidium on a voluntary basis and work full-time as sales managers. The Presidium manages the business of the association and takes care of all administrative tasks.

Full board

The entire board consists of the presidium as well as the heads of the regional groups and expert commissions.

Regional groups

The association is organized in 8 regional groups:

  • Baden-Württemberg
  • Bavaria
  • Berlin / Brandenburg
  • Bremen / Lower Saxony
  • Northern Germany (Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein / Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania)
  • Hesse / Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland
  • Central Germany (Saxony / Saxony-Anhalt / Thuringia)
  • North Rhine-Westphalia

The permanent regional groups are led by regional group leaders on a voluntary basis, who are elected in the respective regional groups and represent the regions in the overall board. The regional groups serve the local networking and further training of the members.

Expert commissions

The expert commissions serve to facilitate the exchange of information between the members. They serve to share knowledge, as a think tank and impart knowledge.

There are the following expert commissions who have a more detailed focus or represent a special focus topic of the association:

  • Compliance
  • International sales
  • Sales managers
  • Employee development and leadership
  • Social selling

The heads of the expert commissions also work on a voluntary basis and are appointed by the Presidium. As a rule, these volunteers have professional expertise or other extensive experience.

Function, way of working, structure

The members are looked after by voluntary functionaries. On the one hand, these ensure a cross-sector exchange through regional networking and, on the other hand, they ensure supra-regional exchange through topic-related networking. Nationwide events complete the offer. Non-members are also cordially invited to some of these events.

The federal office supports the board and the officials with the organization of the events. It is also the point of intersection with political and media actors.

membership

There are different types of membership.

Only sales managers (natural persons) in the sense of the contribution regulations can become full members. Sales managers are professionals who work in the area of ​​sales and are responsible for personnel and budgets, but who do not act in an advisory capacity for third parties.

Up-and-coming sales staff and young professionals who are not older than 35 years and who are pursuing the goal of a sales management position can apply for membership as a Young Sales Professional (YSP) for up to 3 years.

Members who have left the professional field can remain with the association as alumni members.

There is a sponsorship partnership for legal entities or natural persons outside the field who want to support the association in its work.

Publications

The Federal Association of Sales Managers publishes the nationwide magazine "Vertriebsmanager" several times a year in cooperation with Quadriga Media Berlin GmbH.

Furthermore, articles with committed members or functionaries appear occasionally in (specialist) journals, magazines or on online platforms.
