The Thomson Point is a headland on the north coast of Laurie Iceland in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located on the east side of the Pirie Peninsula and 2.7 km southeast of Cape Mabel . Together with Cape Geddes to the east on the northern tip of the Ferguslie Peninsula, it limits the entrance to Browns Bay .
Participants of the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition (1902-1904) mapped the headland in 1903. Expedition leader William Speirs Bruce named it after the Scottish natural historian John Arthur Thomson (1861-1933) from the University of Aberdeen .
