Cape Mabel is a cape on the north coast of Laurie Island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is at the northern end of the Pirie Peninsula .
The first sighting of the cape probably took place on the third Antarctic voyage (1822-1824) of the British navigator and seal hunter James Weddell , who explored the north coast of Laurie Island in 1823. Participants in the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition (1902-1904) mapped it. Expedition leader William Speirs Bruce named the cape after Agnes Mabel Kerr, fiancee and later wife of James Hunter Harvey Pirie (1878-1965), surgeon and geologist on this expedition.
