The Federal Association of Independent Rescue Services and Disaster Protection e. V. (BKS for short) is an umbrella organization for private rescue services in Germany. It was founded in 1985 under the name “ Federal Association of Independent Ambulance and Medical Aid Services”. V. “founded.

The association uses the BKS star, also known as the Star of Life , as a symbol of the association, a six-pointed blue star with the Aesculapian staff in the middle. In the Federal Republic of Germany, the BKS star is a protected trademark of private rescue services.
