National composition competition

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The national competition "Jugend Komponiert" is the highest award for young composers in Germany. Young composers between the ages of 12 and 22 can take part. The winners receive a scholarship to participate in the composition workshops at Weikersheim Castle. Under the guidance of experienced lecturers you can reflect on your compositional work, get to know works by other young and established composers, exchange ideas with like-minded people about your own music and gain valuable new impulses. Scholarship holders of the Federal Selection of Concerts of Young Artists of the Deutsche Musikrat GmbH perform the award-winning works in a concert of young people "world premieres" and record them in a high-quality recording.

Further award winners, whose submitted pieces the jury recognizes creative potential, are invited to the sponsorship workshop, where they receive specific suggestions that encourage them to gain confidence in their creativity and develop their own musical thoughts. Here, too, the young musicians of the German Music Council are available, there is a world premiere with a recording.
