The castle Thimo is an Outbound hilltop castle in the district Thiemendorf the municipality of heathland in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia .

history

The mountain tongue at the northeast end of the village of Thiemendorf between the Schindegraben and the side gorge was built on with the Thimoburg. It dates from the 12th century.

During renovation work in 1972 and 1973, the basement was exposed and the current environment was designed.

The Timoburgstraße in the district is reminiscent of the castle site. A section of the moat has been preserved from the former castle complex.
