Business rule engine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A business rule engine ( BRE ) is a software component as part of a business rule management system (BRMS) that enables the efficient execution of business rules . The primary goal of the BRE is to separate the business logic between the database and the user interface from the program logic or process logic, which enables fundamental changes to the business logic without having to make changes to the program code or the design of the business process .

This means, for example, all the rules and processes of the specialist users for procurement, marketing and sales. Other components of a BRMS are a business rule repository and a business rule editor .

The most prominent providers of business rules engines are FICO , IBM WebSphere ILOG JRules , Bosch Software Innovations , Pegasystems , BRFplus , JBoss (JBoss Rules and the open source project Drools), Computer Associates , Gensym , Corticon and ACTICO .
