Buyrate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For pay TV in the Pay-Per-View (PPV) area, the buy rate is the number of orders for a PPV offer such as a feature film (example: Sky Select in Germany). It differs from the audience rating in several ways . While the audience rating makes statements about audience numbers, the buyrate refers to units sold (regardless of whether they are consumed by one or more people). The buyrate is also based on absolute figures, while the audience rating is an extrapolation (in Germany, an extrapolation of 5,640 representative households is made to approx. 73 million viewers).

In contrast to the audience ratings, the buyrates of the individual pay-per-view programs are currently not publicly available.
