Buzz! refers to a series of quiz games for the Sony PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 , which can only be played with special input devices.

The first game to appear in 2005 was Buzz! The music quiz together with the "Buzzers". This game relies on the concept of answering questions known from television and aims at the speed of the competing players who want to crown themselves the winner with as many correctly answered questions as possible.

In addition to the classic quiz games, which are mainly moderated by the always smiling showmaster BUZZ, there are now other game concepts. The games released in the Buzz! Junior series are aimed at children and young people as a target group, but are particularly popular as party games, even among older audiences.

The first "buzzer" -suitable quiz not moderated by BUZZ was the game Who Wants to be a Millionaire - Party Edition , which reproduces the television quiz of the same name .

In 2008, BUZZ was released - exclusively in the UK ! The Schools Quiz . It is preferably used as a study tool in UK schools but can also be purchased for private use. It is suitable for children between the ages of 7 and 11 years.

Buzz! Controller

wireless buzzer

The input devices called " buzzers " are connected to the game console via USB and allow up to eight people to play at the same time. The latest version of the buzzer communicates wirelessly to the USB connector . Four different colored keys (blue, orange, green, yellow) and a highlighted “buzzer key” in red are available for each input device. The buzzer key is mostly used to respond quickly to a question and the four colored keys to select a desired answer. If the buzzers are connected to a PC, Windows recognizes them as a game controller.
