Célimène and the Cardinal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Célimène and the Cardinal (French original title: Célimène et le Cardinal ) is a play by the French playwright Jacques Rampal , the Molière's play " The Misanthrope " continues. Rampal uses alexandrines for this, as in Molière's, so that the impression can arise that Molière wrote it, although the piece was not written until 1993. At Rampal, lovers Célimène and Alceste meet again after 20 years. Actors like Ludmila Mikaël (1993) and Claude Jade (2006) embodied Célimène on French stages. The production by Rampal himself with Claude Jade and Patrick Préjean was filmed for television in 2006 and is available on DVD from Éditions l'Harmattan.

The play received three Molières in 1993 , the highest theater award in France.
