Código Civil (Portugal)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Código Civil is the civil code of Portugal. It first came into force in 1867 and was the work of António Luís de Seabra , a professor at Coimbra University . In 1966 a comprehensively reformed version came into force, which was heavily influenced by the German Civil Code , the Swiss Civil Code and the Italian Codice civile . The division follows the pandectistic division into five books of the German Civil Code.
