Michael Dämgen (born April 6, 1961 in Dickenschied ) is a former German professional soccer player and today's soccer coach .
career
Damgen first played from 1980 to 1983 in the Southwest amateur league for the Eisbachtal sports fans . In 1983 he moved to SC Freiburg in the 2nd Bundesliga . There he played a total of 70 games in the following two years and was one of the permanent staff. For the 1985/86 season he was signed by the then reigning German cup winner Bayer Uerdingen under coach Karl-Heinz Feldkamp . Damgen immediately made the leap into the regular squad. In that season he also came to international business; Uerdingen was able to qualify as a cup winner for the European Cup Winners' Cup. The highlight of his career was the game in the quarter-finals of the European Cup against Dynamo Dresden , with the Uerdingen team being able to make up a 2-0 defeat in the first leg and a 3-1 deficit at halftime, winning the game 7-3 and thus into the game Semi-finals. The game went down in football history as the miracle of the Grotenburg .
The defender stayed with Krefeld until 1989. In the end he was hardly ever used and was a reservist. He went to the 2nd Bundesliga for Alemannia Aachen , with whom he was relegated to the Oberliga Nordrhein in the 1989/90 season.
Trainer and manager career
From 2003 to 2004, Dämgen worked as an assistant trainer under his former Uerdingen teammate Rudi Bommer, initially at SV Wacker Burghausen , then at TSV 1860 Munich . This was followed by the position of sporting director at Kickers Offenbach , which he occupied for three years until 2008.
On June 4, 2010 Michael Demgen was introduced as the new head coach of the regional division Wuppertaler SV , where he was responsible until June 2011. For the 2011/12 season, Dämgen was introduced as the new coach of the regional division TuS Koblenz . On September 11, 2012 he was released after three consecutive away defeats at TuS.
Damgen is married and lives in Elgendorf, Montabaur in the Westerwald .
